Thanks to our colleagues at Honest Elections Project for filing a Freedom of Access Act request with Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows to find out how 250 pre-packaged official ballots were found in a state resident's Amazon box next to the coffee, rice and paper plates she ordered.
Governor Janet MIlls has noted the ballots came from a printer (no, really?) and added that she is not worried about ballot security. That's a relief.
Over in the real world of election integrity - what printer? How did they get in an Amazon box? Were they put in the box at the Amazon facility or somewhere else? Where were they supposed to go? And what if they had fallen into dishonest hands?
A new requirement for voter ID in the state of Maine is on the ballot this November. Even as we wait for results from the information request, it is now glaringly obvious why everyone in Maine should vote YES for voter ID.
