A digital ID is the electronic equivalent of an actual ID and the opposite of a Real ID -- both with an upper case "Real" and lower case "real." You cannot hold it in your hand or pull it out of your pocket - it lives on your device.
There is a (leftwing) movement in the US to allow students in particular to use these IDs to vote. They are magical virtual pixie dust ID's - what could go wrong?
After a lawsuit brought by the RNC and NC GOP, the North Carolina State Board of Elections has now agreed not to accept electronic identification as voter ID. We congratulate them for embracing the obvious.
